Understanding the history and whakapapa of clay helped me practice a holistic attitude towards the development of this work, the organic responses to fabricated forms and shapes or the way the medium stretches and contracts. Accepting that weathered shapes and surfaces are at harmony with the simple bowl form gives me a platform to treat these works more like sculpture than pottery. The uneven surface of each piece references the weathered and layered structures of the land and the impact of human activity and industry

Te Kahureremoa (Ngāti Kahungunu, Ngāti Tūwharetoa) is a multi-dimensional artist, writer, singer, composer, storyteller and taonga pūoro practitioner based in Te Whanganui-ā-Tara. Her music is inspired by her māoritanga, motherhood and her ordinary extraordinary life.

Stevei Houkāmau is a full time artist based in Te Whanganui-a-tara that works predominantly in Uku (Clay). Houkāmau journey with uku started in 2011 at Toihoukura in Te Tairawhiti. In 2021 Houkāmau decided to make the move into working as an artist in a full time capacity.

Puratana is an emerging visual artist currently working towards establishing a practice in the fine arts, taking inspiration from his religious/spiritual background within his heavily Waikato rooted upbringing Puratana has developed a piece to pay homage to his late Kuikui Edith (Iti) Rawiri as well as his whanaus connection to their faith and the Kīngitanga.

Neke Moa is an adornment and object artist, predominantly working with Pounamu (NZ nephrite jade) and collected materials.  She is based at Otaki beach, Aotearoa (NZ).
