6IXHAND
You are invited to KMFWT6 featuring Te Whanganui-a-Tara’s DJ collective 6IXHAND. Featuring ggrraayy, miamia, AverageJay, Kayseeyuh, the genesis of 6ixHand came about in October 2021.
6ixHand is heavily influenced by the sounds and music of POC (whether from Aotearoa or as far as Africa) as well as our homelands (the Islands). Though we love to play music of today, the energy we create when mixing is the energy that we feel brings a sense of home to POC that are within the space.
You can expect to hear songs that would play at your uncle’s garage drink ups, to the music of festivals as big as Coachella.
We want people to feel like they are free to be who they want to be when they come to our events. We love to curate an energy that is inviting, expressive and above all, a damn good time.
What’s special about Wellington’s DJ scene is that there is lots of opportunity for change. There aren’t many spaces right now that hold space for collectives like ours in the city, and we’re excited to be part of a new movement that will bring something fresh to the city that is well and truly needed.

Learn More About The Collective
Three members of the collective met through dance in Wellington. Being part of the Wellington hip hop dance community together for around 10 years total, they built their friendship and creative connection through dance before discovering their shared love for DJ’ing. Not long into gathering as a collective, the fourth member came through Kaysee’s brother, AverageJay, who shared the same love of DJ’ing as the rest of the collective. After attending one jam session with the rest of the collective, it was clear the group had the same passion for mixing, thus moving forward as a collective of four.
