Whiringa ā Nuku – Monthly Update
Our right to vote is vital to our voices being heard and represented. Saturday, 14th October 2023, marked our general election and too the changing of our government.
It also marked the growth of both Te Pāti Māori and the Green Party including Aotearoa’s youngest ever Member of Parliament Hana-Rāwhiti Maipi-Clarke winning the Māori seat of Hauraki-Waikato from long serving māreikura Nanaia Mahuta. In Wellington Central, we celebrate Kia Mau’s whanaunga Tamatha Paul voted in to Parliament of the Lambton Ward. We also acknowledge Tākuta Ferris who won Te Tai Tonga.
The impact on our creative community will no doubt be felt for better or for worse – as will Aotearoa as a whole. We Artists however will continue to lead, dream and create – such is our way.
